Animals

We have a range of animals at our Centre that we believe form a valuable role in a child’s learning and development. Caring for animals gives children an opportunity to learn how to be gentle, nurturing, show empathy, compassion, and be responsible in a caring role. Children are encouraged to handle the animals correctly and practice animal care skills such as assisting at cleaning and feeding times. Animals also decrease a child’s stress levels and anxiety, whilst meeting the emotional needs of children with their affection and unconditional love. We have a few chickens, Squeaky and Scruffy the guinea pigs, Peta rabbit, hermit crabs, fish and our resident turtles- Franklin, Squirt and Tiny Tim, just to name a few of our pets.
